painted fish

painted fish
aquarium fishes that have been artificially coloured by injection with a dye, dipping in dye or by feeding with dyed food. This marketing ploy fades after several months. Fatality levels are high and campaigns to ban this process have been mounted. Also called juicing. See also GloFish
